Pastor’s Heart

2019 Dec. Pastor’s Heart

Adaptability.   2019 is about to end. What did you learn to make 2020 better? A timeless virtue that God wants us to learn is Adaptability.

It is best illustrated in apostle Paul’s life. Paul faced many setbacks in life. Each time, he learnt to adapt and turn his setbacks into opportunity to grow, witness, and spread the gospel about Christ. He considered his itinerary to be in God’s hands. He did not complain about the hunger, the cold, shipwreck, snakebite, imprisonment, or the injustices he faced. Paul sees each setback as just part of his learning and growing in the Lord, which makes his life an adventure in faith.

Paul was arrested by a Roman commander for no good reason. But the reason for his arrest is not as important as how he handled the setback and injustice. As military officers and city leaders met with King Agrippa to hear Paul’s case, he saw his troubled situation not as a cause for lodging a formal complaint with the authority, but as another opportunity to present the Good News about Christ to them (Acts 25:23–26:32).

Every offense and setback you suffer will test you. It will force you, as it forced Paul, to choose what and how to respond. Will you see your setback only as a problem to complain and sulk? Or will you see it as an opportunity to grow in faith, character, wisdom and love in your life? Rather than complain and sulk at every setback, why not try to look for ways to turn your painful experiences into an opportunity to grow in godly character and glorify God.  Amen!
